La '''fondation pour le logiciel libre''' (en anglais, ''FSF'' acronyme de ''Free Software Foundation'') est une [[Association à but non lucratif|organisation américaine à but non lucratif]], fondée par Richard Stallman en 1985 pour aider au financement du projet GNU et de la communauté du Logiciel libre. Les fonds sont réunis en vendant notamment des tee-shirts, CD-ROMs et des distributions GNU.

La [[Free software foundation europe|FSF Europe]] et la [[Free software foundation india|FSF India]] sont deux organisations sœurs distinctes de la FSF.

En France, la FSF France est une organisation locale proche de la FSF.

===Adhésion===
Le 25 novembre 2002, la FSF a lancée la « FSF Associate Membership program for individuals ».  En avril 2004, ils ont eu plus de 2 044 membres. Le 5 mars 2003 ils ont lancés un Corporate Patron program for commercial entities.  En avril 2004, 45 entreprises étaient membres de la FSF.
